Supplementary Feeding

Definition:

A feeding that substitutes a breastfeeding.

The general rule-of-thumb is to give 1 ounce of pumped breast milk or formula to a 1- to 2-day-old infant; give 2 ounces of pumped breast milk or formula to a 3- to 5-day-old infant.
