Transitional Milk

Definition: Somewhere between colostrum and mature milk, a breastfeeding mother will have transitional milk. This stage lasts from 7 to 10 days. It has a decreasing amount of proteins, but an increase in the following:
  • lactose
  • fat
  • total calories
  • water soluble vitamins
  • fat soluble vitamins
