Ben & Jerry's Will Have To Get Even More Creative With Their Ice Cream Names

Thursday October 2, 2008

I'm kind of digging the idea of "Mammary Madness Munch." The organization, PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), has made a formal request to Ben & Jerry's Homemade Inc., asking them to replace the cow's milk in their products with human breast milk. This query comes on the heels of the story where a Swiss restaurant owner will begin substituting breast milk for 75 percent of the cow's milk in the food he serves. PETA believes that this would lessen the suffering of dairy cows and and benefit human health at the same time.

PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman says, "The fact that human adults consume huge quantities of dairy products made from milk that was meant for a baby cow just doesn't make sense. Everyone knows that 'the breast is best,' so Ben & Jerry's could do consumers and cows a big favor by making the switch to breast milk."
