Adding A Bit Of Humor To Your Day...

I have to laugh. I never really thought of my job title as something that could possibly be a misnomer, but I happened to receive an email recently which brought to light all of the other times in my career that I've been called something other than a "lactation consultant."

A former client of mine is disenchanted with her current job and, after having had an amazing experience breastfeeding her baby, she feels strongly about going into the breastfeeding biz. I had to read her email twice before I caught something hysterically funny...She said, "I'm thinking about the possibility of becoming a liquidation consultant." It turned out that her Blackberry automatically spell-checked and changed the word. Thinking about this jogged my memory of some other humorous terms I've been called including the "Lactaid Consultant" and "The Lactating Nurse"...But perhaps my favorite story comes from my husband, who was at a business dinner when someone asked him what I did for a living. When he explained that I was a lactation consultant, the person sitting next to him leaned in and whispered, "You know, I have the utmost respect for what your wife does. I happen to be lactose intolerant..."
