Modesty and Breastfeeding: Can They Go Hand-in-Hand?

Monday February 18, 2008

One of the most common breastfeeding concerns of moms-to-be is that they'll have to expose their breasts to the world if they have to feed in public. Well, put your fears aside...there are many ways to be discreet and breastfeed. In this video, you can see a few different methods of subtle feeding.

There are also myriad products on the market to help you feel more comfortable nursing in public...nursing shawls, ponchos...but most of them are a bit unwieldy. Personally, I've been searching for a while for the perfect cover-up to recommend, but nothing has impressed me. Enter my mother, who hasn't breastfed in 34 years...She recently turned me on to a fantastic new device called the Cover-Me. The inventor of this device, Natascia Carr, was tired of tucking her baby blanket into her bra straps to keep it in place and, not wanting to be burdened by the above-mentioned items, realized that she simply needed something to fasten onto her blanket to keep in in place while breastfeeding. Hence, the "Cover Me" was born...a simple strap that attaches to your blanket. It is practical, yet fashionable, as she offers many different patterns and colors, and it takes up no room at all in your bag!

If you discover any fantastic new breastfeeding products, let me know! Join my forum and let's talk about them! I'm always on the lookout.

Why not try a hat? Ok, sounds crazy, but it’s fantastic - a hat for the baby with a big wide brim that covers mom!
